ABSTRACT

Four-hundred-and-three Merino ewes were used to investigate the effect of treatments with stilboestrol (Group II) and stilboestrol in combination with PMSG (Group III) prior to mating, on the reproductive performance of spring-mated ewes. The percentages of ewes in oestrus in the control (Group I) and experimental groups (Groups II and III) were 71,9%; 89,0% and 91,0% respectively, and the corresponding lambing percentages were 56,2%; 67,0% and 72,0%. In the case of young maiden ewes the percentages in oestrus in these groups were 19,2%; 78,6% and 78,6% and the subsequent lambing percentages 11,6%; 50,0% and 78,6% respectively.

Opsomming

STIMULERING VAN GESLAGSAKTIWITEIT BY LENTEGEPAARDE MERINO-OOIE
