ABSTRACT

Seasonal variation in adrenal and thyroid function was investigated in five Angora does and four bucks by determining total corticoid and thyroxine levels in peripheral plasma. The circulating corticoid levels showed relatively large fluctuations with a tendency to increase during autumn, which was especially marked in the case of does. No well-defined pattern of seasonal changes in thyroid function was recorded for either bucks or does. Both corticoid and thyroxine levels were significantly (P < 0,01) higher in does than in bucks.

Uittreksel

SEISOENALE VARIASIES IN ADRENAAL- EN TIROIEDFUNKSIE BY ANGORABOKKE

Laasgenoemde tendens was veral opvallend by ooie. Geen goed gedefinieerde seisoenale patroon van tiroïedfunksie her by of ooie of ramme voorgekom nie.
