The Grootfontein College Choir was formed in 2013 when students showed an interest to enter the choral music competition for all agricultural colleges in South Africa. The competition is organised by the Colleges Choral Music Association for the past three years. The purpose of the competition is to share the message of peace through music and also gives students the opportunity to interact with fellow students from other colleges.

The competition consisted of 10 categories (songs) and Grootfontein managed to participate with 5 songs. The choir brought back two trophies for position 2 (HIV song) and 3 (Mezzo soprano) that was performed by a third year student, Ms. Thozama Fulumeni. It is indeed an achievement for the first time choir.

They also participated at the ATKV competition at the Middelburg Art Work Festival in October and came second.
