The 7th annual Rural Farmers’ Day was held at Grootfontein Agricultural Development Institute, Middelburg EC. The event was well supported by farmers and youth from schools in Middelburg.

The keynote speaker was Dr Johan Viljoen, veterinarian at Grootfontein, who discussed how to identify a sick sheep and how to treat it.

Other exhibits included the Provincial Veterinary Laboratory, as well as Landbank from Cradock who was the main sponsor of the event.

Seen here are a group of KwaNonzame learners looking at the exhibition of the Merino Production Unit.

Third year students of Grootfontein are responsible for these production units and were available to answer questions from learners and show them their livestock. The junior school learners were introduced to the youth show and how to prepare animals for the show.
